Northminster is a Union Church between the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church (CPC).
Located in the Great Northwest area of San Antonio, we serve God in our local community and in our city.
We have a membership of more than 250 with weekly attendance of approximately 170 at our Sunday worship hour. Our congregation ranges in age from 100 years to newborns.
Building and Grounds
The Building and Grounds Committee is all about keeping Northminster beautiful and in working order.
A group of volunteers meet every third Saturday of the month at 8 a.m. to do work around the grounds. This work includes mowing and edging, watering plants, changing light bulbs and any other tasks that keep NPC running smoothly.
Breakfast and lunch is provided to all those that come to volunteer. Everyone is welcome so come by and lend a hand.
Youth
Do you want an energetic and exciting committee?
If you like working with youth from 6th graders to high school seniors, then this is the committee for you. What a rewarding opportunity to mentor our church's future. Guide youth through an extremely difficult time of discovery and temptation by discussing Christ's love and grace and giving them a solid background to handle life's challenges and enjoy life's gifts.
The youth have several events throughout the year such as retreats, mission trips, parties, and many more. If you like to be around people that are energetic, impressionable, and full of imagination then this committee is for you.
Worship, Music, and Arts
Rejoice in the Lord with a beautiful sound!!
The Worship, Music and Arts committee is dedicated to making the worship experiance at Northminster the best.
Sancturary Choir
Our weekly choir rehearsal is a time of spiritual and musical preparation to lead worship. The choir rehearses each Wednesday night in the sanctuary from 7:00-8:30 p.m. We worship, pray, and prepare to lead the congregation in worship. As well as participating in the 10:30 service, the choir sings at special seasonal outreach events.
Mission and Outreach
Reaching out to the community to help our fellow man is really what we are all about.
We organize the congregation to help those in need throughout the year and especially at holiday times. Some of the programs this committee supports are yellow bags of food that we donate to the hungry each month, toiletries and clothing items donated bi-yearly to area shelters, and helping Habitat for Humanity projects.
If you would like to help serve a Thanksgiving Dinner, help build a house, help clothe some youngsters, help provide formula to feed a baby, or just help someone in need then this is the committee to join.

Northminstrels turn 25
The Northminstrels, Northminster Presbyterian Churchs acoustic music team and integral part of the church's blended worship music program, have been involved with the worship program here for a quarter of a century. The founding group, three members at the time, first led music for worship on Sunday, July 28, 1985.
The group has had a number of members over the years and included a wide variety of instruments, but through it all have remained purely acoustic, shunning the demon electricity, as one group member often says. This makes the Northminstrels a little different from todays typical praise band.
The group was started by Steve Richards, Steve Clark (who moved to Lynchburg, Va., in 1993) and Linda Page (who sang with the group four times before moving). Over the years, a total of 76 people have sung with the group, although 30 of those sang fewer than five times and of those, 19 sang with the group only once. There have been 13 different instrumentalists over the years. Currently, the group numbers about 12 to 14 on any Sunday, including four instrumentalists.
Some highlights of the group include the fact that they have led the music for every Easter Sunrise service since 1987 (that first sunrise service was on Easter morning, April 19). They have, over the years, appeared at a number of local functions and provided music for Sunday worship services for numerous churches in San Antonio. The group has appeared twice at the Habitat for Humanity fund raiser, Holy Smoke -- in 2002 and again in 2010.
Some of the more significant appearances include leading music at a men's conference at Mo Ranch in 1993; providing music at a combined Protestant-Catholic worship service at the State Mental Hospital (no comments please) in 1993; singing at the San Antonio airport during the annual Holiday Music Special in 1993, 1996 and 1997; videotaping four songs for a Mission Presbytery video in 1995; leading music for a Trinity Presbytery meeting in 1996; leading music for a special Earth Day service at Mo Ranch in 1997; leading the music for the Sunday service during a Synod of the Sun Presbyterian Women's annual meeting in 2004. And they led the music for a memorable worship service at Northminster on Feb. 15, 1998, when the congregation had to gather out on the slab when insulation fell inside the church and it was closed for repairs.
Whether the group will be around for another 25 years is hard to say but in the mean time, the members of the group will continue to make a joyful noise unto the Lord and, as it states in Colossians 3:16, Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.

What to wear?
The congregation here at Northminster is a wonderfully eclectic group. Some will be casual, some in business casual and others may choose to wear their Sunday best! What is most important is that you feel comfortable as you experience worship at Northminster.
Offerings?
During the service we do take an offering. This is intended for those who call Northminster their home - so do not feel any obligation to give. From time to time we also take special offerings for various needs from our local food bank to natural disasters around the world.
Nursery?
We provide a safe and comfortable nursery for infants up through age 24 months. They are cared for in a loving and secure environment by a wonderful team of volunteers.
